Job Summary:
The Medical Gastroenterologist will provide specialized medical care to patients with gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. The role includes diagnosing and treating conditions of the digestive tract, liver, and pancreas, performing endoscopic procedures, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:
Evaluate and manage patients with a wide range of GI disorders, including but not limited to inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver diseases, and functional GI disorders. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, and ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography). Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients. Provide follow-up care and monitor patients’ progress.

Procedural Duties:
Conduct endoscopic examinations and interpret findings. Perform minimally invasive procedures to treat conditions such as polyps, strictures, and bleeding.

Collaboration and Consultation:
Work closely with other specialists, primary care physicians, and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Provide consultation services to inpatients and outpatients. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss complex cases.

Education and Training:
Educate patients and their families about their conditions and treatment options. Supervise and mentor medical residents, fellows, and other healthcare staff. Participate in continuing medical education (CME) activities to stay updated with the latest advancements in gastroenterology.

Research and Development:
Engage in clinical research to contribute to the advancement of gastroenterology. Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at medical conferences.

Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records. Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulations. Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
Education: Medical degree (DM or Dnb) from an accredited institution. Training: Completion of a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology. Licensure: Valid medical license to practice in the state. Experience: Proven experience as a Gastroenterologist in a clinical setting preferred. Skills: Excellent diagnostic and clinical skills, proficiency in endoscopic procedures, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

Working Conditions:
Hospital environment with potential exposure to infectious diseases. Rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required. On-call responsibilities.
